The Challenge

Corum Group needed updates to their website that would position them as thought leaders in their industry, and improve the UX and design of their site. Their current website was lacking strong positioning, and their value propositions were not clearly presented. Their design was also outdated, and needed an overhaul to showcase them as the modern, tech-savvy company they are.

These updates needed to be made while taking into account highly customized modules that were built on the current site. They needed to retain overall functionality and remain on Drupal 7, while refreshing and fixing the site’s issues.

Process

Strategy

Kanopi first engaged with Corum Group to produce a Website Growth Plan: Usability & Design to determine the right mix of tactical recommendations for the web redesign. With an aligned vision, we began the site UX and design phase.

Corum Group Strategy

Resource Hub design

There was a large effort in consolidating the various types of the rich resources Corum Group has by organizing them by topics, migrating them and then ensuring each resource detail would provide a set of relevant “next step” reading for the audience.

The Solution

Working with Corum Group, Kanopi performed a Discovery Audit — including a User Experience Audit and a Technical Audit. As one of Kanopi’s services, the audit includes in-depth user research and analysis of the current site function, as well as competitive research and analysis. Through the audit, we were able to focus on specific, measurable goals, including:

  • Retain overall site functionality
  • Showcase Corum’s Thought Leadership content
  • Better integrate “Resources” section
  • Improve mobile site design
  • Better communicate breadth of experience
  • Refresh/modernize overall site design

Key Features

Visual design updates

We created a lighter, brighter look and feel, positioning Corum Group as a modern, professional, credible, forward-thinking company. Using micro-interactions, animations, and interactive design solutions we created a more engaging UX. Text-heavy sections of content were balanced with meaningful imagery.

Homepage refresh

The updates clearly articulated Corum Group’s mission statement and value propositions, with high-level, easy-to-skim takeaways. We showed their unique company personality with thoughtfully selected imagery, and introduced social proof with customer testimonials highlighted on the homepage.

‘Resources’ Hub experience

This key page of the site was enhanced with a self-serve experience, by consolidating all resources into a single page with multi-faceted filtering. We introduced CTAs to optimize the content, and surfaced top performing and recent blog posts.

The Result

We refreshed and modernized the overall design of the site, giving Corum Group a modern, tech-savvy look, and a mobile design experience to match. The “Resources” section of the site was improved by consolidating all resources into a single page with multi-faceted filtering. Using what we uncovered during our Discovery Audit, we established credibility, by clearly presenting Corum Group’s unique value proposition and breadth of experience.

We were able to accomplish these fixes and updates while remaining on Corum Group’s existing Drupal 7 site, allowing for a seamless relaunch of the site.
