The challenge
AMIA was at a turning point with their digital support needs. Additionally, they were entering a particularly busy period and were unable to manage the necessary upgrades without outside help.
The main problem was that their website was on an older version of Drupal and required an upgrade. But as we began the project, it became clear that reworking the visual designs would be skillful in order to take advantage of the project’s momentum.
They were looking for more than just a vendor to handle incoming requests. They wanted a true partner who could provide timely, reliable support and take a genuine interest in their long-term success. Response times and proactive engagement were top priorities, but equally important was finding a team that could think strategically to look beyond the immediate task at hand and help them consider the bigger picture for their digital presence.
The process
Auditing Components
In order to prepare for the visual design, we audited existing components throughout the site to better understand the scope and priority of the work.
Home Page Redesign
We updated the homepage design, reviewing fonts and colors, the top and footer navigation, updating CTA buttons, and cleaning up unnecessary and distracting graphics.
The solution
We seamlessly onboarded as the client’s support vendor, ensuring continuity of service with minimal disruption to their operations. As part of this transition, we facilitated the transfer of hosting ownership, coordinating the handoff to ensure a smooth and well-documented change of control.
Following a technical audit, we undertook a comprehensive update of Drupal Core and contributed modules, bringing the site’s codebase up to current standards and resolving outstanding security advisories.
Additionally, we completed a full site rebrand on a condensed timeline, delivering a refreshed front-end experience without compromising site stability or content continuity.
The result
By coordinating with and transferring to the new hosting environment, the AMIA team now has control of their own environment and hosting needs. The rebrand effort was completed on a tight timeline, with an approach that serves both internal and external user needs.
Since updating to modern Drupal, we have continued to provide ongoing support, addressing bugs as they arise and offering technical guidance to empower the client’s internal team.
But there are more impactful changes to come. We are actively collaborating with AMIA to create their digital roadmap, with a focus on improving the overall editing experience, cleaning up analytics and reporting, strengthening accessibility, and refining user pathways to better serve their audiences.
