Miriam Goldman

WordPress Technical Lead

Miriam is a Technical Lead on our WordPress team, responsible for technical architecture, task scoping and assigning, and helping the development team succeed in delivering outstanding websites to our clients. Miriam brings extensive full-stack experience to the Kanopi team — developing in WordPress since 2008 — combined with a passion and attention to the website development cycle. Her favorite part of the job is showcasing new features and developments to clients, and seeing their joy as the vision comes to light.

Outside of Kanopi, she speaks at WordCamps around North America, co-organizes the Ottawa WordPress Meetup, and is a lead organizer for WordCamp Ottawa’s annual conference.

When she’s not developing stellar WordPress websites, you’ll find her enjoying a plethora of hobbies: playing clarinet in a local community band, competing in latin ballroom dance, and instructing karate at her dojo (she’s a 3rd degree black belt!). She loves her adorable dog (a Jack Russel/Corgi mix), and she’ll never say no to a good cup of coffee, or a glass of white wine.

Her apartment, the dojo, the dance studio, any good pho place, and a wine bar in Ottawa called 10Fourteen. The latter apparently has the best popcorn, and you can literally order a glass of bacon.

Did you know?

Back in grade 11, Miriam was asked to play trombone in the jazz band. Being smaller in stature, she couldn’t reach 7th position, so she would stick her foot out to catch the slide. Unfortunately, one day, her foot didn’t get out in time, and the slide flew off and almost hit the baritone sax player in front of her!
