The challenge
The client first engaged Kanopi to complete a design-only discovery project, with the possibility of a full rebuild later. However, during early conversations, it became clear that they had already conducted much of the discovery work themselves. This shifted the engagement into a new direction.
Ultimately, the client needed help applying their updated brand across their digital ecosystem. The ask was less about new strategy and more about execution: staff augmentation to support their internal team in bringing the rebrand to life.
Adding to the challenge, the client’s site was built on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) — a platform Kanopi typically does not develop within. AEM gave editors wide flexibility, but with few brand guardrails in place, it allowed indiscriminate changes to colors and shapes. Over time, this diluted the brand consistency across the site.
The process
Designing and Implementing Components
We redesigned 20 core site components that carried the greatest impact for branding and usability. These were implemented from a front-end perspective and merged into the client’s staging environment.

Gap Analysis and Quality Assurance
After implementation, a gap analysis identified where further design enhancements were needed. Using a QA tool called BugHerd, which integrated directly with their staging environment, we could flag issues directly on the site, with screenshots and context automatically included. This streamlined communication and reduced guesswork.

The solution
Kanopi stepped in to help the client implement their rebrand quickly and effectively. Working against an aggressive launch date, we:
- Applied the client’s existing brand standards to their AEM site.
- Identified 20 key components that made up the majority of the site experience.
- Redesigned and implemented these components on the front end, ensuring visual consistency across the platform.
- Transitioned from design and implementation to QA, helping the client meet their tight deadline.
While no back-end development was required, Kanopi provided front-end design expertise and practical brand guidance (including CSS best practices and a color guide) that allowed internal editors to keep their site visually aligned over time.
The result
Kanopi successfully launched the client’s rebrand on time and on budget. The client appreciated not only the speed and quality of delivery but also the guidance we provided for long-term brand consistency.
By creating a brand color guide and embedding best practices within their CSS, we gave their team practical tools to preserve brand integrity moving forward. The client came away with a refreshed, consistent digital presence — and a partnership that demonstrated Kanopi’s ability to flex across platforms, even those outside our usual wheelhouse.
