AI Visibility Assessment
Understand how AI sees—and recommends—your organization.
Search is shifting from links to answers—people now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot who to trust.
The AI Visibility Assessment shows whether AI platforms recommend you—or your competitors. You get a Trusted AI Visibility Index (TAVI) score and a prioritized plan to improve it.
Why AI Visibility Matters
You optimized your site so search engines could rank it. Now AI platforms decide who to summarize, cite, and recommend—and that answer may not include you.
Today, organizations must also consider how AI systems interpret, summarize, compare, cite, and recommend their expertise.
Your organization may be affected when AI platforms:
- Leave you out of relevant recommendations
- Recommend competitors instead
- Describe your services inaccurately
- Rely on outdated third-party information
- Fail to connect your experts with your organization
- Miss important programs, locations, or areas of expertise
- Cite other sources instead of your content
- Characterize your organization differently than you would characterize yourself
The AI Visibility Assessment makes these patterns visible and actionable.
What Is TAVI?
The Trusted AI Visibility Index, or TAVI, is Kanopi’s proprietary measure of how well AI platforms discover, understand, trust, and recommend your organization.
Your score maps to one of five maturity levels:
The 0–100 index
- Emerging0–20
- Established21–40
- Trusted41–60
- Recommended61–80
- Authoritative81–100
TAVI gives your whole team—marketing, digital, and leadership—one number they can act on and track.
The Four TAVI Pillars
TAVI is recommendation-first: being technically ready for AI is not the same as being recommended by AI. Each pillar is weighted by how much it drives that outcome.
Can AI find you → understand you → trust you → recommend you?
Discoverability15% of score
Can AI find and process your content?
We review crawler access, rendering, technical readiness, structured content, information architecture, and other factors that influence discovery.
Understanding20% of score
Does AI accurately understand who you are?
We assess whether AI platforms and machine-readable systems understand your organization, services, programs, people, locations, and expertise.
Trust25% of score
Does AI trust your organization as an authority?
We evaluate the credible third-party sources, citations, backlinks, expert signals, and other evidence AI platforms may use to validate your organization.
Recommendation40% of score
Will AI actually recommend you?
We test whether AI platforms mention, cite, rank, and recommend your organization in relevant unbranded, category, informational, and competitive conversations.
TAVI can’t be gamed by technical polish alone—recommendation is weighted highest, and anything we can’t observe is marked “Not assessed,” never estimated.
What’s Included
Every assessment covers five areas:
- Live AI-answer testing — how seven leading AI engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok) answer real questions about your organization.
- Your TAVI score and pillars — an overall 0–100 score, maturity level, and the four-pillar breakdown.
- Competitive benchmark — how your visibility and share-of-voice compare with peer organizations.
- Site and content evidence review — content quality, information architecture, technical and structured-data readiness, accessibility, and off-site authority.
- Prioritized recommendations and roadmap — evidence-backed fixes sequenced by impact, with suggested owners.
Full factor-level detail—engines, prompt types, and the signals behind each pillar—is covered in the FAQ below.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as an SEO audit?
No. Traditional SEO audits focus on helping search engines crawl, understand, and rank web pages. The AI Visibility Assessment evaluates how AI platforms discover, interpret, cite, compare, and recommend your organization. There is overlap, but TAVI addresses a different generation of search and discovery experiences.
Do we need to be using AI already?
No. The assessment evaluates how external AI platforms perceive your organization. You do not need to be using AI internally.
Which AI platforms do you test?
The assessment tests ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok.
Why test prompts more than once?
AI-generated answers can change between sessions. Repeated testing helps distinguish consistent patterns from isolated responses and creates a more credible baseline.
Will this include technical recommendations?
Yes. Recommendations may address content, structured data, accessibility, information architecture, crawler access, technical implementation, authority signals, and communications strategy.
Is the accessibility review a full accessibility audit?
No. The assessment includes automated accessibility testing on representative page types and review of semantic-content factors. A comprehensive manual and assistive-technology accessibility audit should be scoped separately.
Do we need to provide analytics access?
Analytics and search-performance data improve the assessment, but they are not required for every component. If data is unavailable, related measurements are marked Not assessed rather than estimated.
Does a high TAVI score guarantee traffic or business results?
No. TAVI measures observed AI visibility and recommendation performance. It does not guarantee traffic, leads, donations, applications, revenue, or other outcomes. Full clients can connect TAVI to relevant business KPIs, but the score should be interpreted alongside those measures rather than treated as proof of causation.
Can you guarantee that AI platforms will recommend us?
No organization can responsibly guarantee a particular AI recommendation. Kanopi identifies the evidence, gaps, and improvements most likely to strengthen your position and measures whether observed performance changes over time.
How often should we reassess TAVI?
We recommend quarterly reassessment for organizations actively implementing improvements or operating in competitive, fast-changing environments. TAVI Monitor provides that ongoing measurement.
